Wendy's 15-Second Ad Scores High for Pretzel Bacon Pub
A 15-second Wendy's ad reintroducing its Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger has achieved top-tier effectiveness scores, according to marketing firm System1.

Wendy's new 15-second commercial for its returning Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger has been rated highly effective by marketing analysts. The ad, which promotes the limited-time menu item, achieved strong scores for brand growth potential and short-term sales impact.
According to System1's Test Your Ad database, the advertisement performs multiple tasks quickly. It establishes brand recognition within two seconds, with 77 percent of viewers identifying it as a Wendy's ad based on the firm's Fast Fluency score. The spot names and shows the burger immediately, calls it a "fan favorite," and shows a customer taking a bite.
Ad Creative and Execution
With basic branding established, the ad shifts to an entertaining scenario. As the customer bites into the burger, he is visually transported into a pub setting. A voiceover states, "It's like a pub in a bun." Two other pub patrons banter with the surprised diner before the scene erupts into a cheerful group singalong. The narrator concludes with, "Pub kinda included.
Vanessa Chin, SVP of Marketing at System1, explained the ad's packed agenda. "The ad is giving us information but also a laugh, a surprise, and more cues about the product and how we're meant to feel about it," she said. The analysis notes that achieving this in 15 seconds is notable, as short-form ads of 30 seconds or less make up about half of all TV media, and emotional connection often requires more time.
Effectiveness Ratings
The commercial received high marks in System1's testing. It earned a Star Rating of 4.2, placing it in the top quartile for the quick-service restaurant category, indicating strong potential for brand growth. Its Fluency score, measuring brand recognition, was also above the category norm.
For a limited-time product promotion, the key metric is the Spike Rating, which predicts short-term sales lift. The ad's Spike Rating landed in the "Exceptional"bracket, within the top 17 percent of all QSR ads."Bring It Back"bracket, leading to its current limited-time reintroduction."Ad of the Month" feature, which included campaigns from other major chains.
