Eater hosted its annual Off Menu food party last weekend at the Tam O'Shanter restaurant in Los Angeles's Atwater Village. The event, in partnership with Cathay Pacific, featured dishes and drinks from a lineup of celebrated chefs and restaurants.

The legendary Tam O'Shanter, a favorite of Walt Disney, provided a fairytale setting described as a mix between a 19th-century Scottish tavern and Snow White's house. Inside, attendees encountered a winding wonderland of food creations from a roster of Eater favorites.

Featured Restaurants and Dishes

Guests experienced a wide array of signature offerings. Ji Rong carved Peking duck, filling the air with the smell of roast meat. Pasjoli served French dip sandwiches with poivre sauce from Lawry's The Prime Rib's iconic carving carts. Lawry's also prepared its famous spinning salad to order.

Pastry chef Hannah Ziskin of Quarter Sheets presented a 40-foot-long snaking sheet cake. The New York City hotspot Dean's contributed a tabletop-sized stargazy pie. Holbox offered its award-winning Mexican seafood, with guests slurping scallops straight from the shell.

Cocktails and Bar Offerings

The bar, manned by Thunderbolt and Night on Earth, featured drinks highlighting Punch magazine's top trends of the year. These included a banana-miso carajillo, a neon passion fruit refresher with Hpnotiq, and tiny martinis, both classic and Gilda variations. A large conceptual ice sculpture embedded with fish and vegetables loomed over the game room.

Patio and Sweet Treats

On the patio, Café Telegrama served both sweet and savory versions of its cult-favorite ricotta pancakes from a pop-up diner. Nearby, Arcadia's Sumibiyakitori Kidori served yakitori in a Cathay Pacific lounge. Passed snacks included salt bread from Out of Ordi, filled with sweet corn or ube cream.

For dessert, Molly Baz, founder of Mister's, handed out ice cream sandwiches topped with sweet-salty brittle. A photobooth line snaked through the patio as guests captured the moment.

Departure Gifts

All guests received a gift bag containing products from several brands. The bags included Luxardo cocktail cherries, Unreal chocolate candies, Giadzy gluten-free pasta, Fly By Jing noodles with chile crisp, and a coupon for Molly Baz's Ayoh mayonnaise.

Eater encouraged attendees to download its app for first access to future events. The source also requested that guests who attended fill out a survey for a chance to win a $100 gift card.
