Taco Bell and ice cream maker Salt & Straw are launching a new co-created dessert item. The Churro Ice Cream Taco will be available at Taco Bell restaurants across the United States starting September 1.

According to a statement from the chain, the item features new churro-flavored ice cream inside a waffle cone shell. It is finished with puffed rice and a dark chocolate coating and will be sold for $3.99.

Expanding a successful partnership

The collaboration follows the launch of the Tacolate dessert last year. That item sold out during its launch weekend at more than 50 Salt & Straw scoop shops. The companies first announced their partnership in February 2024.

Taco Bell's Global Chief Food Innovation Officer Liz Matthews said last year's collaboration demonstrated the joy of reimagining nostalgic favorites. "The Churro Ice Cream Taco builds on everything fans loved about the original collaboration, with a flavor that feels right at home on our menu," Matthews stated.

Salt & Straw co-founder Tyler Malek said the customer response made it clear they wanted the item to stay. "So, when we had the chance to take the idea beyond our shops with Taco Bell, we wanted to dream up something completely new," Malek said.

New beverage for café locations

A companion beverage is launching simultaneously at Taco Bell's Live Más Café locations. The Salt & Straw Choco-Waffle Chiller is a blended frozen drink inspired by the taco.

It has a vanilla ice cream base blended with churro crumbles and waffle cone pieces. The drink is topped with whipped cream and additional waffle cone pieces. It will be available for a limited time starting at $4.69.

The beverage was previewed at this year's Live Más Live event in Hollywood. It was shown alongside four other drinks expected to join the café menu.

Café expansion and promotional offers

The Live Más Café concept debuted in late 2024. It now operates in over 30 Taco Bell restaurants. The chain has expressed a goal of opening a café in all of its more than 7,700 U.S. Locations.

Promotional offers will accompany the new items. Each Chiller or ice cream taco purchase at a Live Más Café comes with a free sticker sheet while supplies last.

A special reward for Taco Bell Rewards members is scheduled for September 8. The Tuesday drop will include a limited-edition Salt & Straw and Taco Bell branded cooler. The cooler will be filled with three of the new Churro Ice Cream Tacos.
