Cafe Charmant Brings French Brasserie Fare to the West Village
Eugene Remm's new restaurant, Cafe Charmant, is set to open in mid-September at 340 Bleecker Street, offering a French brasserie experience with a coastal spin.

A new French brasserie is coming to the West Village, courtesy of Eugene Remm's Catch Hospitality Group. Cafe Charmant, located at 340 Bleecker Street, is set to open in mid-September and promises to bring a unique take on classic bistro fare to the neighborhood.
The restaurant's design is being handled by Rockwell Group, the same team behind the decor of Remm's earlier restaurant, Or'esh. The space was previously home to Saint Theo's, which operated there for five years.
Cafe Charmant's menu will be led by chef Jake Tyler Brodsky, a New Yorker who previously worked under James Kent at Eleven Madison Park. Brodsky has most recently cooked at Palm Heights in the Cayman Islands, where he spent the past seven years. Remm has praised Brodsky's cooking, stating that he suggested they work together after visiting the island.
The restaurant's drinks program will be overseen by Catch Hospitality's beverage director, Lucas Robinson, who is known for his creative cocktails. Wine director Emily Buse, a top-50 sommelier according to Wine Spectator, will also be on hand to curate the restaurant's wine list.
Cafe Charmant is the latest addition to Remm's growing restaurant empire, which has seen rapid expansion in recent years. The company has opened several restaurants in New York City, including Or'esh, the Eighty Six, and the Corner Store.
## A Formula for Success?
Remm's restaurants have been known for their familiar food, pedigreed chefs, and polished design. Cafe Charmant is a test of whether this formula can be applied to a French brasserie as easily as it has been to a Mediterranean grill and an American throwback restaurant.
## A New Take on Classic Fare
Cafe Charmant's menu will feature a range of classic French brasserie dishes, including nicoise salad and steak frites. However, the restaurant will also offer a raw bar and seafood options that push the menu towards the coast.
## A Team of Experts
The restaurant's team includes several experienced professionals, including chef Jake Tyler Brodsky, beverage director Lucas Robinson, and wine director Emily Buse. With their combined expertise, Cafe Charmant is poised to become a top destination for French cuisine in the West Village.
