New Food Hall at Tunnel Tops Park Offers Iconic San Francisco Views
The Mess Hall at the Presidio, a new food hall in San Francisco's Tunnel Tops Park, offers a variety of dining options and stunning views of the city.

A new food hall is opening in San Francisco's Tunnel Tops Park, offering visitors and residents a range of dining options and breathtaking views of the city.
The Mess Hall at the Presidio is a food hall, bar, and market that will provide Presidio visitors and residents with bites, cocktails, and everyday goods from morning to night. It's home to three restaurants: Boda, which focuses on Korean and Asian-inflected dishes; Dayboat Seafood, which serves all things seafood, including a raw bar and cooked seafood dishes like Dungeness crab sandwiches; and Breadwinner, which takes on the carb angle with hot and cold cut sandwiches and burgers.
The menu at the Mess Hall is diverse and includes build-your-own hand rolls, banchan, and serious steak sandwiches. Boda offers a Korean take on burgers and fried chicken sandwiches, while Breadwinner serves classic deli items like porchetta sandwiches and pit beef sandwiches. The menu also includes gluten-free items and modifications, clearly marked for easy identification.
In addition to the restaurants, the Mess Hall will have a coffee bar with beans from Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters, a bar that provides cocktails, local wines, and beer, and a market with picnic-ready grab-and-go items.
The Mess Hall has teamed up with consulting chef and James Beard Award winner Peter Serpico, who previously worked with Momofuku Group and Starr Restaurants. Serpico is meshing his East Coast sensibilities and cooking background with San Francisco's abundance of ingredients, resulting in some hard-to-find gems on the menus.
The Mess Hall space itself is a standout element, with much of the historic look of the building preserved. The views from the building are stunning, with the Golden Gate Bridge, Palace of Fine Arts, Alcatraz, and Transamerica Pyramid all visible from different vantage points. The team has also carved out interior space for private dining rooms available for rent.
The Mess Hall at the Presidio (201 Halleck Street, San Francisco) debuts on Saturday, August 15, and is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
